PowderBlue (rabbiteye): released jointly by North Carolina State University and the United States Department of Agriculture-ARS in 1978. Powderblue has a chilling requirement of 550-650 hours. Approximate date of ripening is very late June to early August. Berries are medium in size, have a small, dry stem scar, and have average firmness and flavor. Powderblue cracks less in wet weather and hangs on the bush better than Tifblue. It can be mechanically harvested for the fresh market in years with good weather. Bush habit it upright and spreading. Suggested pollinators are Alapaha, Brightwell, Tifblue and Ocklockonee. Very delicious. Size: 12 cm pot. Zones 7-9
