Description
Florida Rose (U.S. Plant Patent PP14,485) Developed by Dr. Paul Lyrene at the University of Florida, it is prized for its ornamental value and delicious fruit. A relatively new introduction from the Southeast, Vaccinium virgatum Florida Rose (Plant Patent 14,485) is a spectacular selection of the Rabbiteye blueberry with supposed to be rose-colored fruits, larger than Pink Lemonade but it can also ripen in a wide range of colors, sometimes it can turn blue being tissue cultured.. Florida Rose bears heavy crops, ripens early in the season, and only requires 300 chill hours. It is an excellent selection for growers in warmer climates that often don’t receive enough chill hours to get many blueberry varieties to ripen. Requires cross-pollination with another Rabbiteye blueberry, but Pink Lemonade or any other blueberry with rabbiteye in its lineage should make a good pollinizer. Blooms with Brightwell at the same time. Mid-Late variety between Rabbiteyes. It ripes prior Pimk Lemonade. 4' tall, compact bush, good for containers.
Size: 2 year old tissue cultured plant in 12 cm pot. Very large plants. This tissue cultured certified berry portion gave blue fruit this season but they are very sweet and delicious..
